making the best of being sick

this was quite a fun week despite being sick for part of it! my friend dixie came over one day to play and we were both feeling bad later in the week. one of us probably caught something at school and we passed it on to each other since we are such good friends and like to share things :)
mommy and i were supposed to go to holly springs this weekend to see our friends norma, amy, kayla and brian. unfortunately, i ran a fever on wednesday and thursday so we decided it would be best to stay home and take it easy and not risk getting our friends there sick. yesterday i was feeling much better, didn't have a fever at all, but i have a cough. it's probably from the drainage i've got going on, which is typical this time of year with things starting to bloom.

yesterday i fell asleep during naptime, but only after i had completely destroyed my room. i love to take books off my bookshelf and bring them into bed with me, but i cleaned out the bookshelf this time and i also brought out all my stuffed animals to join the party. mommy came up and told me to get back into bed and i actually stayed there and slept for a little while. she couldn't resist taking some pictures of the mess i had created. don't i look like such a little angel when i'm sleeping?

daddy brought home more POPS for me last night! right before he got home, i just had a little pee-pee accident and it was almost bedtime so mommy just changed my undies but didn't think it was necessary to put on clean pants for just a short amount of time. so that's why i'm showing off my legs in these pictures!

ALLELUIA HE IS RISEN

yesterday was a very joyous easter sunday for our family! mommy and i went to mass at our church and it was quite nice! i love to "read" the missal, turning the pages and running my finger along the lines as if i'm actually reading along. i also like to listen to the music, smile at other kids and people around us, and say the Lord's prayer.

daddy came home from augusta yesterday! he surprised me when he came up to get me in my room from my "nap" and i was sooo happy! he brought me a masters hat and we went downstairs to watch the masters and find some easter baskets and some eggs. the easter bunny stopped in iowa on the way here and picked up easter baskets from grandma and grandpa and mimaw and papaw. that means i had THREE easter baskets to find!

the first one was hidden by the couch and it was from grandma and grandpa. there was lots of fun stuff, like some crayola model magic, bolt the dvd, coloring books and crayons, pretty pj's and elmo bath towel, and a cross necklace!
the second basket i found was from mimaw and papaw and it was hidden behind the chair. i got some squeaky elmo books, a doll, a toothbrush and toothpaste and some chocolate bunnies which i'm sharing with mommy and daddy.

the last basket was from the easter bunny himself. he brought me some elmo books, a few coloring/paint books, some bunny ears and sunglasses, stickers and lots of miniature sesame street beanies. once i was done checking out all my loot, it was time for collect the eggs that were hidden around the house. a lot of them had teddy grahams in them, and i was all about that! some eggs had some coins that i could put in my piggy bank.

before easter arrived, i got to do a few fun activities in the kitchen! mommy and i made some cookies in the shapes of bunnies, eggs and chicks. then saturday my friend dixie and her mommy came over to help me frost the cookies! it was lots of fun, especially when we put the sprinkles on them. dixie and i also dyed some hard boiled eggs. the colors were very vibrant and the next morning mommy and i shared one at breakfast...it sure was yummy!

good friday is here

today is the day jesus died for all of us on the cross. we are patiently waiting for sunday to rejoice. tuna helper is on the menu for dinner :)

this has been kind of a low key week around here. daddy has been down in georgia, so it's just been my mommy and i (and the pookies too) holding down the fort. i must say that we have a little cabin fever since the weather has been cold and dreary, and i've been recovering from a cold.

monday mommy kept me home from school due to my cold. she was concerned about me spreading the germs around and me bringing some more of them home with me. i had a relaxing morning playing and watching tv down in my basement.

tuesday we had snow, which was nice to look at from inside, but mommy wouldn't let me outside since it was cold and very windy and she didn't want my cold to get worse when i was just showing signs of getting better. it was a little crazy to see snow in april, but i suppose weirder things have happened.

wednesday i went to school, but they ran on an hour delay due to icy roads. since we had some extra time in the morning, mommy and i made some eggs and bacon for breakfast! i love to help stir things up in the kitchen, and i also enjoy watching food cook! the snow melted away that afternoon as the temps rose into the 40's. still windy though.

thursday afternoon mommy and i watched the first round of the masters on tv. she was explaining to me that daddy was at the golf course on tv and also telling me the names of some of the players. she also told me that zach should not have chosen the red pants and white belt ensemble...

today's weather is not too cold, but it feels cold since it's rainy and the air is really damp. we are hoping the weather will be more mild this weekend so we can spend some time outside. mommy has some cookie dough ready for us to make cut-out cookies when i get up from my nap. and tomorrow we are going to dye easter eggs with some friends. we are anxious for sunday...we miss daddy! and i want my easter baskets too!

go cubs go!

today is the season opener for the cubbies so i'm sporting my super cute tee! we are hoping for a great season for our team!

daddy had to leave us for the week yesterday. he is down in augusta working at the masters tournament again this year. mommy and i decided not to go down this week. we always have a great time, but thought it might be less crazy if we go visit our friends at the end of the month instead so we will have more time to spend with them. we'll be sure to watch what we can on tv though and wave to daddy if we see him in the background!

saturday night we had some friends over for a cookout! we had yummy turkey burgers, mac-n-cheese and baked beans. mommy also made an amazing strawberry chocolate cake but i was too busy playing to eat any. dixie, maggie and i played in the basement some, and also got to splish splash in the tub together. we had an extended bedtime that night so our daddies could watch the first half of the carolina game! that means that i actually took a NAP on sunday since i was so tired from the weekend's festivities.

i have been quite a rock star playing my drum! i love to make music with it and it plays songs too so sometimes i just let it go and i dance everywhere!

birthdays are great!

this weekend we celebrated my friend dixie's 2nd birthday with a nice little party! we had lunch and some yummy chocolate cake! i was so excited to sing the HAPPY BIRTHDAY song for dixie that i was jumping up and down! dixie got some nice gifts, including a toy golf club set. daddy tried to teach me how to play golf with them and i did pretty good! i also got to play golf with my friends dixie and maggie. we had fun running around being silly. dixie gave maggie and i magic wands for attending her party and it sure is special! i love to wave it around and put magic spells on my doggies!
daddy got enough done in the basement to move things back to where they used to be! this means that my kitchen and other bigger toys got to go back downstairs and i can play there again! there is so much more room for me down there and i also love having a change of scenery, especially since we are getting another dose of winter these days and it's way too cold to play outside. in this picture, i am feeding froggy a very nutritious meal of hot dogs and corn on the cob!

i'm still doing great on the potty! just a few accidents in the past week! i'm not even shy to poop away from home! i went at church yesterday. mommy felt like she spent more time in the bathroom than she did participating in mass, but at least i didn't have any accidents! saturday we took a road trip two hours each way and i did great then too! i'm really a big girl now! i just turned two and a half yesterday! here are some pictures with my froggy and my pookies!
