tis the season

we have had a busy time lately celebrating holidays and preparing for baby jesus’s birthday!  we had a fun thanksgiving this year.  we traveled to holly spring to spend the holiday with our friends the aldingers.  great weather, good food and great time with friends!  norma had a wonderful idea for us girls to do a thanksgiving play!  she was a super director and we made our own costumes and performed it after our turkey dinner!  we also played in the leaves, went to a cool park, made pilgrim hat cookies and even made some christmas cookies!         

      

     

  

we celebrated st. nicholas day this week.  he came by and left a box of special things for ryne and i on thursday evening.  i got a new christmas cd, a new hat and matching gloves and some dry erase markers and booklet.  ryne got some new toy keys and a teether blankie.  we also got a gingerbread village kit that we put together yesterday.  our elf dude must have been hungry when he got back from the north pole last night because we found him in the village and he had eaten some of my house!!!      

we have been celebrating!

well, we had our halloween last friday, a couple days late but better than not at all!  we had a fun day at school.  it began with a costume parade in the gym and then we had pumpkin math in our classrooms.  it was a fun time with several different stations and mommy and ryne were there running one of the stations.  we did patterns, weight and measurements, counting ribs and also made mini pumpkin pies and cake pops!  we wore our costumes all day at school!

  

that evening was the town’s trunk or treat.  they changed the location to the old school so they could do the costume contest in the old gym.  it was not too organized and we didn’t stick around too long.  ryne did the contest and he won second prize.  i didn’t enter but went trick or treating instead and then we went and had dinner at the mexican!   

 

   

we went to the y pool this week and ryne got to try out the water for the first time.  he wasn’t a fan.  i think it was still a little too cold for him.  

my brother turned 8 months old this week.  he has two teeth now and is finally starting to sit up for longer periods of time (he really prefers to be on his tummy rolling all over the place).  he has also begun to army crawl so it won’t be too long before the real party begins! 

  

 

i was st margaret mary for our all saints celebration at church!  i learned that she was from france and her feast day is october 17.  she was a cripple until the virgin mary cured her and she then became a nun and devoted her life to the sacred heart of jesus.
