what a day!

we have a lot of cookie cutters, almost like a mini-collection of them.  six of them pertain to halloween, so we HAD to make some cookies this week!  the thing with these cookies is that is takes so much time!  but that is great for me because we spread the fun out over 3 days with each step.  wednesday we made the cookie dough, thursday we rolled the dough, used our cookies cutters and baked the cookies, and today we made the colorful icing and decorated them nice and pretty.  i can’t wait for christmas time since we have even more cookie cutters for that holiday!

     

 

today i had my 4 year checkup at the doctor.  i weighed in at 38 lbs and i am 41 inches tall.  the doctor said that just as a precaution, we should see an eye doctor since one of my eyes seemed weaker than the other during the vision test.  i may have just been giving the girl wrong answers just for the heck of it since i am FOUR and silly, but better safe than sorry since mommy and daddy both need glasses.  i got my shots for school too to get them out of the way.  i did ok on the first one, but the second one brought tears.  mommy gave me a sucker and i also got bandaids and a sticker so all was better. 

from the doctor’s office, we headed to the boone BOO.  it began at the library where they had crafts and story time.  i made a jack-o-lantern, which i named pumpkin.  we then went trick-or-treating at the businesses in downtown boone.  it was so fun and i got lots of neat stuff, but my legs were doing a lot of walking.  it started to be a little much after getting poked with needles just beforehand at the doctor.

   

we went to chick-fil-a for dinner afterwards since they were giving away free kids meals with costume!  moo cow was there and he sat down next to me at the coloring table and colored with me!  by the time we got home, i was in tears because my poor legs were so sore from the shots.  mommy gave me some medicine and we said a bedtime prayer that my legs would feel better in the morning.

the countdown continues…4 more days!

this past weekend our friends the huff’s came up for a visit.  brennan, blythe, brianna and i had a great time playing with all my toys and cleaning them up too!  we also had fun playing outside since the weather was pretty warm.  my teacher at my old school ms. gillian came over saturday night to watch the four of us so our parents could go out to eat and then to ghost train at tweetsie.  (they didn’t tell me they were going to tweetsie though since i would have wanted to go with.) 

    

since it’s almost halloween, we met my friend maggie and her mommy and baby sister friday to pick out a pumpkin at a great little shop in banner elk.  we also got a mum (i picked out a purple one) and some yummy NC apples.

counting down till halloween

we have already passed the fall peak here in banner elk, but we are still enjoying some nice weather so there are not too many complaints.  there is still a little color left out there, but many of the leaves have fallen and soon all the trees will be bare and we will be getting some snow!  i am very excited about the snow, but mommy really is not.  i have been riding my bike in the driveway on the mild afternoons so i will miss doing that when it gets colder.  

friday we went to halloween at the Y and i got to wear my costume!  this year, i am a girl pirate and the costume is so great!  i won 2nd place in the the costume contest and i didn’t want to take the costume off when we got home.  but i will get to wear it again at least a few more times for the fall festival at school and on halloween!

 

  

saturday was gameday and daddy smoked a chicken on his fancy grill and i ate at a tv tray for the first time so we wouldn’t miss any of the big game.  we had a great time cheering on our hawkeyes…even bitty baby was dressed for the occasion!  

sunday mommy and i drove to the NC zoo in asheboro.  it was a long drive, but we had a great time!  we met some friends there to celebrate my friend maggie’s 3rd birthday!  they brought some cupcakes and we sang happy birthday inside the zoo!  i loved seeing many of the animals, but i keep saying my favorite one was the zebra.  the gorillas was the animal that we got to see the closest.      

monday was  “watch day” at dance class and i just loved showing off for all the parents!  mommy was there to take pictures and video for daddy since he couldn’t make it (yesterday was the first day DC was closed for the season so he had lots going on at work).  mommy was impressed with how much more stuff we can do this year and how well our class pays attention and listens to the teachers.  we are practicing for our part in the nutcracker.  this year, our class will be mice!  i have a feeling that it will be another fun show on the big stage!
