a weekend away and almost snowed out

we traveled down to pinehurst to see my friends anthony and mackenzie this past weekend and had a great time!  they have lots of fun toys and we all get along great.  we did a lot of make-believe and piano-playing.  we also got to eat yummy meals and splash in the tub together. 

we returned home yesterday to close to two feet of snow on the mountain.  daddy worked very hard at trying to dig our driveway out, but there was no way we could drive up the hill.  mommy had to leave her car in a parking lot in boone and daddy drove us to the bottom of our hill and we had to walk up.  there was so much snow that it was very hard for me to walk in it.  no one has driven on the part of the hill that goes to our house and above us so we had to try to walk in the footprints.    

i have had fun playing in the snow yesterday and today, but it gets old quickly for me since i can hardly move.  there is just too much!  the doggies love the snow.  it comes up to their belly!  morgie eats the snow and murphy jumps around in it like a bunny rabbit!  they are so silly! 

it’s beginning to look a lot like…

things have been so busy for us so many apologies to you loyal readers who have patiently been waiting for a blog update! 

on december 6th, we celebrated st. nick day!  after dinner, the doorbell rang.  when i answered the door, no one was there but i think it must have been st. nick since there was a box full of fun stuff for ME!  i got some toy jewelry, coloring books, animal crackers and a little toy train kit.  i was so excited so play with all of my new things! 

 

 

 

last weekend, i was a gumdrop in the nutcracker!  each year, my dance studio does the show and all the dancers get to perform.  it was so amazing to be in my pretty blue costume on the huge stage!  i loved every minute of performing and did a wonderful job during my five minutes of fame!  (the stage pictures are from the dress rehearsal and are very blurry since mommy was not allowed to use the flash.) 

 

 

 

we have been busy getting ready for christmas around here!  grandma and grandpa sent me an elf on the shelf and he has become quite a special addition to our family.  i named him dude.  each night when i go to bed, he goes to the north pole to tell santa about my day.  then he’s back in our house by morning in a different spot than the day before.  i have had a great time trying to find him and i talk to him quite often. 

we have also been making christmas cookies for my teachers at school and i have been putting an ornament on our advent tree each day.  mimaw got me a really cool one that is magnetic so it’s on our fridge!  most days it doesn’t really look like a tree since i like to rearrange the magnets and make my own creation! 

i really enjoy playing with my little people nativity.  we have one at my school too so i have learned more and more about who the little people in the nativity are and that they are there to celebrate jesus’s birthday.  our nativity at home doesn’t have the baby jesus in it yet since we will wait until christmas morning to place him in the manger.  for some reason, i really like the three kings the best and carry them around with me.

SNOW!

it is really snowing outside now!  we got about an inch last night and i couldn’t wait to put on my new boots and snow pants to go outside and play!  it was perfect for making snowballs too!  i tried to make a snow angel but there just wasn’t quite enough snow for that yet.  afterwards, we came back inside and watched frosty the snowman!  what a great morning!

we had a nice thanksgiving up here in the mountains.  i started my day with breakfast and watched some of the macy’s parade.  i really enjoyed the shrek musical performance.  daddy also brought our christmas tree in the house and it is so beautiful!  we went to my friend dixie’s house for thanksgiving dinner.  i didn’t really eat very well since i wasn’t that hungry but i had fun playing with the other girls.  it started snowing later that afternoon and we watched it from the window.  

the next day we decorated our christmas tree.  it has blue lights, silver beads, and lots of pretty ornaments.  i kept placing the ornaments in the same general area so mommy had to show me how to space them out and also put them up higher than i could reach. 

 

 

my friends colby and kylie came up later that afternoon to spend the weekend with us.  we had so much fun playing together!  colby and i both love cars and kylie and i both love to dance.
